Rooney’s back to rescue Jose

- Richard Tanner

INTER MILAN are ready to end Erik Lamela’s troubled Tottenham stay.

The Argentina winger, 25, has not played since October. A hip injury has taken longer than expected to heal and Lamela, right, has also had personal problems.

His contract expires in June 2018 and Inter are confident they can land him at the end of the season for £7 million. WAYNE ROONEY is ready to ease Jose Mourinho’s player crisis ahead of Manchester United’s home clash with West Brom on Saturday.

Rooney’s recovery from the knee injury that has kept him out of the past four matches is a timely one for Mourinho, who could have as many as seven players missing this weekend.

Definitely out are Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Ander Herrera, who will be serving the final games of their domestic suspensions, and Paul Pogba, whose hamstring injury ruled him out of France’s squad during the international break.

There are doubts over Marouane Fellaini, who has been ruled out of Belgium’s friendly in Russia this evening with a toe injury, and Chris Smalling and Phil Jones, who picked up injuries on England duty.

With Bastian Schweinsteiger having left the club and awaiting a visa before his move to MLS club Chicago Fire, Mourinho could be left with veteran Michael Carrick as his only recognised central midfielder. KURT ZOUMA is prepared to go out on loan next season from Chelsea if it helps his World Cup chances with France. Defender Zouma, 22, left, returned in October after nine months out following knee ligament surgery, but has made only four Premier League substitute appearances this season. He said: “A loan move ahead of the World Cup? Why not?” ●LIVERPOOL remain hopeful they may yet recoup the £18million fee paid for defender Mamadou Sakho, with both Southampton and Napoli showing interest.
