Sweet taste of success in making our own drinks
MAKE your own diet drinks, stay healthy and save money (“Diet drinks health alert”, April 21).
For many years my wife and I have gradually reduced our sugar consumption.
The problem is that colas or fruit drinks now taste like liquid sugar and all the diet drinks that we have tried have a nasty aftertaste.
We solved this problem by gradually mixing our cola or our fruit juice with increasing amounts of water.
We now find that a mixture of 20 per cent juice or cola and 80 per cent water gives us a satisfying refreshing drink, reduces our sugar consumption and also saves us a fair amount of money.
But why can’t drink manufacturers produce low sugar drinks without adding foul- tasting sweeteners? Harry Leeming, Heysham, Lancs
