Reid helping Hammers turn the corner… but not Lukaku

-

WINSTON REID says this season has been a steep learning curve for West Ham but takes positives from the way his side nullifi ed the threat of the division’s top scorer.

Everton striker Romelu Lukaku is valued at £ 100million and has 24 Premier League goals this season but Reid made marking him sound easy.

“We just had keep tight to him and not let him turn,” said Reid, above. “If he’s not going to turn, he is not going to score, is he? I know it’s pretty boring but it’s pretty simple I guess.

“It has been a rollercoaster ride this season. It is never easy moving to a new stadium. It’s not an excuse but we will learn from this experience .”

The Toffees moved into sixth and centre- back Ashley Williams said: “It is a step nearer to Europe. We got a clean sheet. Any time you can get one of those in the Premier League, you’re happy.”
