Fashionable Freddie is hit for six by white van man’s tirade of abuse
CRICKET ace Freddie Flintoff is used to people tooting their horn at him in recognition of his heroics as part of England’s legendary Ashes team.
But he was left stumped when a white van man shouted a volley of abuse at him as he posed for a fashion shoot.
The former England star, 39, had swapped his cricket whites for a natty three-piece suit for the shoot outside a bar.
But rage stopped play when the driver of a white delivery van found his way blocked by photographers and their gear.
Organisers tried to explain that they were in the middle of a shoot with the 2005 Ashes winning hero. But the driver replied: “I don’t give a **** who you are, I’ve got a job to do.”
Flintoff looked on bemused as the man continued to complain loudly on Wednesday before delivering boxes to a restaurant in the centre of Manchester. One onlooker said: “The van driver wanted to reverse down this narrow oneway street to make a delivery. He got out and started mouthing off. Flintoff and the other models just sort of laughed.”
Flintoff, now a radio pundit and TV game show star, was in the city modelling his menswear range for fashion label Jacamo.
And he was stumped a second time when a homeless man wandered on to the set and asked for cash.
Flintoff, whose real name is Andrew but is known as Freddie after cartoon character Fred Flintstone, spoke recently about his battles with depression and bulimia.
He made a video for mental health charity Heads Together to support a campaign led by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry.
