TWO TODAY! Kate’s cute birthday snap of Princess Charlotte
HASN’T she grown? Princess Charlotte looks cute in a spring cardigan and hair swept back with a navy bow for a picture released to mark her second birthday today.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge said they were “delighted” to share the photo, taken by proud mother and keen photographer Kate.
It continues the tradition of a new official photograph of the toddler established on the young royal’s first birthday.
Looking straight at the camera, the princess wears a Fair Isle yellow cardigan with a blue sheep motif. The £20 John Lewis knitwear sold out in minutes of the snap’s release yesterday.
As in all the earlier royal photos, she sports a clip with a pretty bow in her locks, which have grown noticeably since she was last pictured.
She is understood to have been photographed in a hay barn at the family’s Norfolk home, Anmer Hall.
In a statement, Kensington Palace said: “The Duke and Duchess are very pleased to share this photograph as they celebrate Princess Charlotte’s second birthday. Their Royal Highnesses would like to thank everyone for all of the lovely messages they have received, and hope that everyone enjoys this photograph of Princess Charlotte as much as they do.”
Charlotte’s privacy has been carefully guarded and she has only been spotted out on a handful of occasions.
She was seen on Christmas Day going to church near the home of grandparents Carole and Michael Middleton in Bucklebury, Berks.
And she appeared in public on the royal tour of Canada last autumn.
Bookmakers Coral yesterday suspended betting with odds of 1-6 on Kate and William revealing they are expecting a third baby in 2017 after a surge of bets in the past 24 hours.
