Plant hints Led Zep could Ramble On...
LED ZEPPELIN aficionados are getting rather excited after a cryptic message on Robert Plant’s website has prompted suggestions the band might reunite later this year.
The words “Any time now…” on a black background are what greet internet users attempting to get on to the frontman’s personal site. And this has led to some fans suggesting that their first performance in a decade will be at the Desert Trip Festival in California in October.
It is, however, also worth noting that Robert, 68, is currently recording new material with his band the Sensational Shape
Shifters but the fact that Led Zep will be celebrating their 50th anniversary next year is the biggest reason some see a reunion in the offing.
A one-off performance in the US potentially followed by a tour later this year running into 2018 could mark a half century since Robert, Jimmy Page, 73, John Paul Jones, 71, and John Bonham formed the now legendary group who went on to become one of Britain’s finest. They disbanded in 1980 after John’s death from alcohol-related asphyxia aged 32.
They last performed at the 2007 Ahmet Ertegun Tribute Concert in London, with John’s son Jason Bonham taking his late father’s place behind the drums.
