George’s telling-off after he trampled on Pippa’s £40k dress

- By Richard Palmer

HE and his sister Princess Charlotte stole the show at Auntie Pippa’s wedding but that didn’t stop Prince George getting a telling off from his mother.

The future king, one of four pageboys, was admonished by the Duchess of Cambridge after trampling all over the back of Pippa’s £40,000 dress. To make matters worse, his mother had just spent several minutes straightening the bridal train before he ran all over it.

George, four in July, was in tears after the telling off outside St Mark’s Church, Englefield, Berkshire, as the wedding party emerged after an hour-long ceremony but recovered later.

Spotted

He was on his best behaviour for much of the day, waving at well-wishers and scattering confetti.

Two-year-old Charlotte, one of four bridesmaids, was spotted putting her tongue out at one point but captured the hearts of guests and onlookers with her impeccable behaviour.

The pageboys and bridesmaids, all wearing bespoke outfits by Kate’s favourite children’s clothes firm Pepa & Co, were kept in line by the Duchess of Cambridge, who at one point had to put her finger to her lips and tell them to “sshh” just before the wedding service began.

The bridesmaids were Countess Philippa Hoyos, Lily French, Avia Horner and Charlotte, while the pageboys were Casimir Tatos, Edward Sebire, William Ward, and George.

One boy proved more boisterous than George and was photographed with his fingers in what looked a V-sign.

They were all, however, impeccably behaved compared to Prince William at Prince Andrew’s marriage to Sarah Ferguson in 1986.

He fidgeted, yawned, poked out his tongue at his cousin Laura Fellowes, scratched his head, covered his face with his fingers pulled faces at the bridesmaids, and rolled his order of service into a trumpet.

Dressed in a straw boater and a sailor outfit, a nod to the Duke of York’s naval career, William was four years old at the time, close to George’s age.

George and the other three pageboys were dressed yesterday in golden pantaloons, cream shirts with Peter Pan collar, and white stockings.

The bridesmaids were in cream dresses with puffed sleeves and a blush coloured slash around the waist complete with a floral crown.

George and Charlotte spent the night at Bucklebury Manor, their grandparents’ £6million home where the wedding reception was held in a £100,000 glass marquee in the 18-acre grounds.
