Grand castle gets red carpet treatment

MAJESTIC Bamburgh Castle rises above a swathe of red campion wildflowers in the morning sunlight.

Yesterday’s picture shows summer may truly be here. The castle, dating from Norman times and on a rocky outcrop on Northumberland’s coast, is owned by the Armstrong family and open for tours.
