My favourite James Bond

TRULY, nobody did it better. Roger Moore was my first James Bond and will always be my favourite. Others may have been tougher and grittier but no one comes to within one iota of the charm. One of many such anecdotes involved someone congratulating Roger on a particularly difficult stunt: “Thanks old boy,” drawled Moore. “I only wish I’d been there.”

In later years he campaigned for underprivileged children and animal welfare and was very good to Dorothy Squires, his second wife, when she fell on hard times. What’s not to like? Farewell then, Roger. A handsome, brilliant, decent man.
