Alesha turns up heat at energy fest as ‘greatest girl band’ storms BGT
BRITAIN’S Got Talent judge Alesha Dixon warmed up for the talent show’s semi-finals this week with a performance of her own.
Dazzling in a blue and orange fringed dress, the former Mis-Teeq singer – who also won Strictly Come Dancing in 2007 – performed some of her hits in front of hundreds of fans at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London.
Dixon took to the stage on Saturday during Shell’s Make The Future Live festival which promotes cleaner energy.
The remaining 40 contestants in this year’s Britain’s Got Talent face the five semi-final rounds this week before Sunday’s grand final.
The winners of the ITV show will receive £250,000 and appear at this year’s Royal Variety Performance.
Girl group Miss Treat Vibe, who stormed through their audition with the Salt-N-Pepa classic Whatta Man, will perform in the first live semi-final tonight.
Determined
The four singers – Lavelle, 22, from Sheffield, Jeanette, 24, from south London, Moesha, 19, from Swindon and Bambi, 22, from Birmingham – have been together for a year.
At their audition, Simon Cowell told them: “You might be the greatest girl band we have ever seen on this show.”
The singers admit they were in shock when they heard Cowell’s comments.
Jeanette said: “It was amazing he said that. It gave us some hope we might have a career after that.
“We’ve been locked away rehearsing in front of mirrors with our hairbrushes. We liked what he said about not taking ourselves too seriously. We are serious about the music but we’re not trying too hard.”
It will be a second chance for Jeanette who was part of Gary Barlow-mentored trio Miss Dynamix in 2013 – the third act to be eliminated then.
She said. “Lavelle, Moesha and Bambi made me fall in love with music again.
“After [the previous appearance], I was really down and didn’t want to perform again. But when I met my girls, I remembered I loved music.
