Woman knifed in road attack by girls ‘who shouted Allah’

- By John Twomey

A NURSERY worker was stabbed in the street yesterday by three young women in black who allegedly shouted “Allah”.

The attackers appeared to chant verses from the Koran, according to a colleague of the victim.

Counter-terrorism police were alerted after the incident in Wanstead, east London, at around 9.30am but they said later the attack is not being treated as an act of terrorism.

The victim, in her 30s, was punched and kicked to the ground on her way to work.

One of attackers pulled out a knife and slashed her arm before all three escaped when a passerby intervened.

A nearby school locked down briefly afterwards.

The woman was treated in hospital for a minor knife wound and shock.

Boss Karrien Stevens, of Little Diamonds nursery, said: “She was attacked from behind by three girls who pulled her to the ground.

Shaken

“They started kicking and punching her and then took out a knife and slashed her arm. Apparently they were shouting parts of the Koran saying things like: ‘Allah will get you.’

“They pulled her to the ground, punched her, kicked her. One of them pulled out a knife and cut her arm from her wrist to her elbow.”

Ms Stevens described the attackers as “three Asian girls” dressed in black and added: “She is shaken up, she’s emotionally a bit of a wreck. She was in tears and had a cut right up her arm.

“Her stomach was hurting, she had marks all over her, her hair was pulled out.”

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: “Counter-terror officers are aware of the incident but it is not being treated as terrorism at this stage.”
