Happy Mondays

Leading life and happiness coach

- Carole Ann Rice

WHEN someone says “another day living above ground is a bonus” you tend to sit up and take them seriously. Sally Bee, a motivational TV chef, should know what she is talking about. At the age of 36 she suffered three heart attacks in one week caused by a rare coronary condition. Against the odds she recovered and thrived until 12 years later she suffered another two attacks.

You will know her as the ever-smiling and all-glowing TV chef who is testament to her own healthy eating philosophy and mindful lifestyle habits which keep her counting her blessings and seizing the day.

Michelle Obama is a big fan of her book The Secret Ingredient (she bought six copies) and The Bikini Promise book broke all records with its two million downloads when it was featured on Lorraine Kelly’s ITV show.

It’s quite an achievement. Sally’s resilience and astonishing vitality are all down to her lifestyle habits and she is now passing on her literally life-saving information to others in her new book Beelicious. The book encourages readers to harness energy and positive thought to get a loved life back from the brink. This kind and thoughtful tome includes a journal in which you can plot your goals, recognise your achievements and understand your moods FEELING less than lovely but OK with that state? Perhaps you are “flawsome” – someone who embraces their flaws and thinks they’re awesome anyway.

DELIGHTFUL BLAST FROM THE PAST

IT was great to see Mari Wilson celebrating 35 years in showbiz on stage in London last week. Gone was her signature beehive and a chic blonde flick-up “do” was in its place. She sung her own hits plus a host of classics by Cilla, Sandy, Petula, Dusty and Burt Bacharach and it was a delight to see a change of outfit between sets. “You feel like you’re 25 when and thoughts. Her nutritious, easy-to-cook recipes are also a great way to practise self love.

The recipes are simple to follow and dishes such as Mexican butter bean hash are set to become family favourites. But this is more than a helpful healthy cookbook, it is a motivational and inspirational guide to help people calibrate their moods and make the most of each day.

“I was in a dark place for a long time and I learned lessons and tools on how to turn up my energy and happiness levels and this was by keeping a journal and a diary,” explains Sally. “We are emotional beings and it’s so important that we take care of ourselves and our emotional wellbeing and the better you can control your mindset the healthier and happier you can be.”

Sally confessed that she sometimes wakes up feeling “tinged with depression” but when in the shower she turns the dial up on her emotions too until her positivity levels rise. “It’s hard living with a heart condition but I now know how to make the most of every day.”

With this in mind Sally is going to produce 365 daily videos with tips and tools on wellbeing and healthy eating on her Facebook page Sally Bee Health. Value your health and add relish to your life. Beelicious is a kitchen and soul must-have. Beelicious by Sally Bee (RRP £20) is published by A Way With Media and is released on June 19. you get dressed up,” she said, looking stunning in a 60s-style cocktail shift. “That is until you stand next to someone who is 25,” she laughed, pointing to her two glamorous backing singers. But no one rocks a sequin like you, Mari, and you were vintage before it was the byword for hip.
