❑TIM EASTERBY could run three in the £100,000 Catherine Kinloch Paver Memorial Macmillan Charity Stakes at York on Saturday.

He has three entries headed by Copper Knight, winner of the Unibet Sprint at the track on May 27. “We’re just deciding whether to run at York or Sandown,” said the trainer. “He has never run over six furlongs before – that’s the only dodge that we’re a little bit concerned about.

“I should think there would be a good chance he’d run. He’s in good form and the money is fantastic. We’re tempted to run Golden Apollo too, after his win tonight at Ponte.

“Hope Solo is also in at York on Friday as well. She will definitely run over the two days but I need to talk to her owner to decide which race she will go for.” ❑THE likelihood of James Reveley retaining the French Champion Jockeys’ title has increased considerably.

After a career spanning 11 years, three jump jockeys’ titles and nearly 800 winners, his main rival David Cottin has announced he is giving up with immediate effect.

“I decided over the weekend of the Grand Steeple-Chase de Paris that I’d keep going for Blue Dragon in order to try and win one last Group One,” said Cottin, 27.

“Unfortunately that didn’t turn out all that well. I have been struggling more and more with my weight but I didn’t tell anyone at all that I had decided I would give up.”

Cottin recently passed his training exams and will divide his time between Chantilly and his father Philippe’s base at Andigne in the west of France. ❑JOHN DE MORAVILLE, who was Bendex on the Daily Express prior to 2000, is to sit on the BHA’s disciplinary panels in future.

Other members of the new-look panels include former jockeys Philip Robinson and Jodie Mogford as well as former trainers Jenny Pitman, and Gardie Grissell. ❑CASPIAN PRINCE runs in the William Hill Scottish Sprint Cup at Musselburgh on Saturday.
