Fireman ‘had to choose survivors’
A TRAUMATISED firefighter “had to choose who to save”, it was revealed yesterday.
Fire Brigades Union official Lucy Masoud said a colleague she spoke to was “devastated” by the horrors he witnessed in the Grenfell Tower inferno.
She said: “He’s absolutely devastated with the things he saw.
“He literally had to choose who he was going to save and who he was going to allow to stay and die – because he only had two hands to take out a certain amount of people at one time.
“It’s unprecedented. We haven’t seen anything like this before.”
London Fire Brigade boss Dany Cotton, who has been a London firefighter since she was 18, said: “We like to think of ourselves as rufty-tufty and heroes.
“They are heroes but they have feelings.”
