Three hit over 999s
MOBILE phone operator Three has been fined £1.9million for failing to ensure emergency services contact.
Ofcom uncovered the weakness after Three notified it of a temporary loss of service affecting Kent, Hampshire and London last October.
Emergency calls had to go through a data centre to reach the emergency services, leaving it vulnerable to a single point of failure.
The regulator said: “Providers must take all necessary steps to ensure uninterrupted access to emergency services.”Three said there had been no impact on customers.
