Cosmetic cladding turned high-rise into a tinderbox

-

AS more details emerge of how the fire in West London spread so quickly, it would seem that the cladding was only put on the building for cosmetic purposes, to make the tower block look more attractive to other more affluent residents in the area.

It appears that the work was “done on the cheap” because it was social housing and that this type of cladding would never have been used on properties erected in the private market.

The result of this is that poor people have died whereas rich people would have lived.

Quite simply, this should never have been allowed to happen. It is a scandal. Lynne English, Wickford, Essex
