Demure Demelza, a frilling Ascot filly
POLDARK star Eleanor Tomlinson was among the famous faces raising the glamour stakes at Royal Ascot yesterday.
With her trademark red tresses up, the 25-year-old actress, stood out from the crowd in a demure, white lace sleeveless two-tier dress with high, frilly neckline.
She is back on our television screens with the series and on Sunday her character Demelza shared a steamy bedroom scene with Aidan Turner’s Captain Ross Poldark.
It was hot in a different way at Ascot yesterday. Guests at the royal race meeting sweltered in the 93F (34C) heat, forcing the course authorities to relax their strict dress code for the second day running to allow men to take off their morning coats in the Royal Enclosure.
“We still expect them to wear top hats and morning coats when they are walking around in the Royal Enclosure but we are not enforcing the rules when they are seated,” an official said.
And members of the Royal Family were out in force as the Queen shared a carriage with Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall while Princess Anne enjoyed a joke with Prince Michael of Kent.
The Countess of Wessex appeared delighted with her pink hat and outfit.
Jennifer Wrynne, of Co Leitrim, Ireland, wore a floral outfit while one racegoer wore a hat that gave a very good impression of a darts board.
