Alex aims for six
ALEX DOWSETT is targeting a record sixth British Championship time trial title on the Isle of Man today.
The Movistar rider won the race against the clock for a fifth time in 2016 and is seeking a third straight success and a sixth title in seven years.
“Winning this jersey is always special,” he said. “To do it for a sixth time would make me feel very proud.”
Dowsett faces time-trial competition from James Gullen (JLT-Condor) and Ryan Perry (Raleigh), who finished second and third 12 months ago. Steve Cummings (Team Dimension Data), Team Sky’s Ian Stannard, Owain Doull, Jon Dibben and Tao Geoghegan Hart, and Sam Harrison (Team Wiggins) are also expected to start.
The road races, slated to include Manxmen Mark Cavendish and Peter Kennaugh, take place on Sunday.
