9 years for boozed-up migrant killer driver

A LOVING grandfathe­r’s life was “extinguish­ed” when a Latvian drink-driver ploughed into him at high speed – after veering on to the wrong side of the road.

Romans Krilovs, 41, had been swigging whisky and using his mobile phone at the wheel when he smashed head-on into greengroce­r Neville Bogg, 61.

He was driving his teacher daughter Kerry Bamforth, 31, who suffered catastroph­ic lifechangi­ng injuries.

Neville, a father of three and grandfathe­r of two, was driving home from a concert his daughter had treated him to as a Father’s Day present.

Police found an opened bottle of whisky in the footwell of the Volvo car Krilovs had borrowed from a friend last October 19.

A doctor described him as “stinking of alcohol”. He was jailed for nine years.
