Cherries home in on Mahoney

- Alex Crook

LAZIO officials are on Wearside trying to push through a deal for Sunderland striker Fabio Borini.

The cash-strapped Black Cats are keen to offload £5million-rated Borini on a permanent basis.

Borini, right, who scored just two goals last term, is desperate to quit Sunderland in the wake of relegation. AC Milan and Celtic have also enquired about the forward. BOURNEMOUTH are poised to sign Blackburn contract rebel Connor Mahoney.

The 20-year-old has turned down a new deal at Ewood Park but Bournemouth will have to pay a fee because he is under 24.

Former England Under-18 winger Mahoney had been set for a move to Nottingham Forest.

Cherries boss Eddie Howe is also closing in on the £20million capture of Nathan Ake after the Chelsea defender impressed on loan last season. Left-back Charlie Daniels says Ake would be welcomed back with open arms, adding: “Nathan was a great person to have in the squad and he scored some important goals.

“This is a fantastic club to play for and Bournemouth is a fantastic place to live. When people look around, they see how far we’ve come and how far we expect to go.”

Ake played 12 games and scored three goals while on loan before being recalled to Chelsea in January.

MAHONEY: Move

CHELSEA forward Bertrand Traore has joined Lyon for £8.8million. Burkina Faso star Traore, 21, has spent recent seasons on loan at Dutch clubs Vitesse Arnhem and Ajax and will now move to France on a five-year contract. Traore, left, officially joined Chelsea in 2013, having previously appeared for them as a trialist after emerging from Auxerre’s academy. ●BRIGHTON have been priced out of a move for Ingolstadt left-back Markus Suttner after tabling a £2.2m bid. Ingolstadt are holding out for £3.5m.
