The natural

-

THESE days there is so much innovation in the world of beauty it’s easy to forget that sometimes simple is best. In fact many of the most effective skin-soothing and anti-ageing ingredients can be found in your kitchen. Not only are homemade beauty products natural, they can save you a fortune.

We’ve rounded up some of our favourite DIY beauty recipes. They are simple to make and will transform your skin.

It’s important to make sure you’re not allergic to anything you put on your skin so don’t forget to do a patch test first. Place a small amount of the ingredient on your inner arm, cover and leave for 24 hours. If the skin shows any reaction, avoid using the ingredient in your recipes.

Remember, use your homemade products immediately or within 24 hours if they are kept in the fridge in a sealed container.

AVOCADO SKIN TIGHTENER

Mash an avocado until smooth then blend with an egg. Apply along the jaw and cheekbones in small circular motions and leave for 10 minutes.

The mixture will dry like a mask and tighten the skin. Use twice a week and you should see a reduction in lines and a firmer complexion.

APRICOT RADIANCE BOOSTER

Blend half an avocado and one fresh apricot then apply to your face and leave for at least 30 minutes. The natural fruit acids in the apricot will exfoliate the skin while antioxidants improve tone and texture. The avocado oil will nourish, leaving the complexion glowing.

EGG WHITE WRINKLE SHRINKER

Using cotton wool, apply egg white to wrinkles and leave for 15 minutes.

You’ll feel your skin tightening as the egg white hardens. Gently wash off with lukewarm water and pat dry. The tightening effect will last for a couple of hours.

HONEY AND ALMOND HAND SCRUB

To soothe dry hands, mix 3tbsp ground almonds with 1tsp honey, 2tsp sunflower oil and 1tsp lemon
