Sleep tight Pudsey ...BGT champ dies

- By Sarah Westcott

BRITAIN’S Got Talent winner Pudsey the Dog has died.

His heartbroken owner Ashleigh Butler, who took the talent show crown along with her beloved pet in 2012, revealed the news yesterday.

Pudsey, a border collie, bichon frise and “powder puff” Chinese crested cross, was put down after battling blood cancer.

Ashleigh, 22, praised the border collie as being “one in a billion”.

And her family said the 11-year-old pet was looking into his owner’s eyes as he died.

The pair won the hearts of the nation when they appeared on the ITV talent show in a dance act.

The dog trainer wrote on social media yesterday: “I can’t honestly believe I am writing these words.

“My handsome man has gone and I don’t know what to do without him.

“My heart is broken and I don’t know how I’m going to get through this. It hurts so much, that my handsome, incredible Pudsey Bear will never be by my side again. We only had 11 years together, but they were the best years ever.

“He was my one in a billion dog that will never be replaced.

“I don’t need to write all of his endless accomplishments on here to prove how incredible he was for me.

“Sleep tight my handsome man, I love you lots.”

Her mother Penny added: “We had to make the hardest decision yesterday to let Pudsey go to sleep.

“We’d have done anything to keep him with us, even a little longer, but he didn’t have any more time. Acute leukaemia made us take the heartbreaking decision to end his pain.”

The incredible double act won £500,000 on Britain’s Got Talent and also performed at the Royal Variety Performance.

In 2014 the beloved dog starred in his own big-screen movie called Pudsey the Dog: The Movie.
