ADAM PEATY may be the headline act but the World Championships offer a chance of redemption for fellow team-mates when action gets under way tomorrow.

Team GB’s tally of seven fourth-place finishes at the Rio Olympics could prove telling. Four of those GB swimmers are competing over the next eight days at the Duna Arena.

One of those edged out of the Rio medals now tops the freestyle world rankings – 22-year-old Ben Proud in the men’s 50m. Duncan Scott, 20, who finished fifth in the 100m freestyle in his first Olympics, also competes as world No1.

Scott said: “Looking at the age of the team, we are looking strong across these events for years to come. There’s a really positive atmosphere.”

Peaty, 22, will aim to win GB’s first gold, in the 100m breaststroke, and also races in the 50m. ROMANIAN Fed Cup captain Ilie Nastase, 71, has been banned from acting in an official capacity at all ITF team competitions until 2021.

He was sanctioned for multiple breaches of conduct rules in an Fed Cup tie against Britain in April, which included a “highly inappropriate and racially insensitive” comment about Serena Williams’s unborn child. He was also found guilty of making “advances of a sexual nature” towards GB team captain Anne Keothavong, and “abusive and threatening comments” to others.
