Move over Kate...Cara’s the new fashion queen
KATE Moss is no longer queen of the British supermodels, according to a survey of their earnings.
Middle-aged Kate, 43, has slumped to third place, having banked a mere £5million last year from contracts with fashion, jewellery and make-up companies.
Her younger half-sister, Lottie Moss, 19, born to father Peter and his second wife, is snapping at her heels in 10th place, having made £1million.
Cara Delevingne, 24, took top spot by making £8million last year, which works out at about £22,000 a day, thanks to work for the likes of Chanel, Rimmel and Puma.
Second on the list is Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, 30, with £6.5million annual earnings and 7.6 million followers on social media, dwarfing Kate’s 629,000. Rosie has a lucrative contract with Marks & Spencer and has taken time off for her first baby, Jack, with film star Jason Statham, born last month.
Emily Bendell, of lingerie label Bluebella, which compiled the survey, said: “Kate is still an absolute icon and will be in demand, but she will never rival Cara again in earning power.
“Kate was wise to maintain her mystique for years by declining to give interviews, but you ignore social media at your peril.”
The only man on the list, David Gandy, 37, took fourth spot, with £4million.
Encouragingly for the older generation, fifth place goes to a 30-year veteran who made £3million last year – Naomi Campbell, 47.
