Watford’s treble

- Darren Witcoop

WATFORD want Brazilian striker Richarlison to kick off a £26million triple swoop.

Richarlison, 20, is close to tying up a £12.5million switch from Fluminense to Vicarage Road. And Watford boss Marco Silva does not plan on stopping there, with defenders Kieran Gibbs and Aymen Abdennour also in his sights.

Arsenal defender Gibbs is close to a £12m transfer after West Brom pulled out of the running. Watford are confident of landing the England left-back, Gibbs resigned to decade-long stay Arsenal being over.

Silva hopes to beat a host of European clubs for the season’s loan deal of Valencia defender Abdennour.

Silva has made signing a new centre-half a priority and Watford are willing to pay the Spanish club £1.5m to take Abdennour for a year, with a view to a permanent move next summer. with

his with ❑ SWANSEA reject Borja Baston has slated the club. The Spaniard was a club-record £15.5million buy but managed just six starts and one goal last season and has been loaned to Malaga.

Now any Swans future looks over after he said: “I arrived at Swansea with an arm injury. Just when I was recovering, I had a small problem with my quadriceps.

“I recovered from that and played a couple of games but then they fired the manager. It was difficult after that because the new boss [Bob Bradley] drove the team mad.

“At no point did they give me the chance to show what I could do.”
