Plot to squeeze out £2m bids for 10ft wide house
A SKINNY home measuring 10ft wide in an alleyway is expected to fetch a huge £2million.
Architects have devised a clever plan to squeeze a 1,500sq ft property on four floors between two buildings in central London.
Dubbed the Skinny House, it will boast a courtyard at ground level and a terrace on the fourth floor, along with three bedrooms and two bathrooms.
There will be an open plan kitchen/ diner on the lower ground floor with a roof light on to the terrace.
The alleyway was previously used as a link to the now-closed Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, in Fitzrovia.
But it is not a traditional residential location.
The proposed house is set to be sandwiched between two large commercial buildings at a busy part of Euston Road next to Great Portland Street Tube station. Plans were approved by Westminster Council this week.
And the developer’s “out-of-thebox” thinking has been praised by property experts.
Edward Corry-Reid, director at Aylesford International estate agents, said: “It is an interesting idea and I am intrigued by it.
“By the looks of things, this is going to be an incredibly unusual property.
“It is sandwiched between large commercial properties located on a very busy road.
“It is fantastic to see someone has taken the initiative to create a living space for someone but is it going to work for a family? I am not sure.”
Although the house has no value yet, properties of a similar size in the area go for more than £2million. two and
