Angelina ready to give ‘boozing’ Brad a second chance, say pals
ANGELINA Jolie and Brad Pitt could soon be an item again, friends of the Hollywood couple have said.
The superstar pair, who had a very public and bitter split in September 2016, could now call their divorce off because Brad has stopped drinking, it is claimed.
Angelina filed for divorce after an incident on a private plane involving an alleged “altercation” between Brad and one of the couple’s six children, Maddox, 15.
An investigation was launched by the FBI, but no charges were brought.
Angelina, 42, is now said to have had a change of heart after reading an interview her husband gave to GQ magazine, in which he said he drank too much in the past and had not been a good enough father.
Brad, 53, said he had given up alcohol and now drinks only cranberry juice and sparkling mineral water. He also said he had been receiving counselling.
A Hollywood insider said: “Everyone thinks they are going to get back together. It wouldn’t be surprising if they announced they are calling [the split] off and are trying to work things out.
“They haven’t done anything to move it forward in several months and no one thinks they are ever going to.”
Friends have noticed Brad’s commitment to giving up the booze. While partying at the Glastonbury Festival in June, the actor remained sober throughout.
A source said: “Brad didn’t touch a drop of alcohol all weekend and stuck to drinking English breakfast tea.
“He said he was being tested on a weekly basis by his legal counsel and didn’t want to **** up being able to see his children.”
A friend of Lara Croft: Tomb Raider star Angelina said his commitment to self-improvement had moved her. She has reportedly claimed she would consider taking him back “if he showed he was committed to raising a family”, a source said. The source added that Brad had “got sober to try and win her back” and that the move to quit drinking was “all she ever wanted”.
Angelina gave her first interview since the split to Vanity Fair for its September issue, and said that she and Brad “care for each other and care for our family, and we are both working towards the same goal”.
The couple married in 2014, having met in 2004 on the set of action comedy Mr & Mrs Smith, when Brad was still married to Friends star Jennifer Aniston.
After the split, Angelina left with Maddox and the couple’s other children – Pax, 13, Zahara, 12, Shiloh, 11 and twins Vivienne and Knox, nine – and moved into a £20million mansion in Los Feliz, California.
She sought sole custody of the children and said: “It’s just been the hardest time, and we’re just kind of coming up for air.”
