Gabby Logan presents further coverage from The London Stadium in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Defending champions are due to go head-to-head with Olympic gold medallists in both the women’s 200m and 3,000m steeplecha­se, with Dafne Schippers (left) up against Rio 400m winner Shaunae MillerUibo in the sprint event, and Hyvin Kiyeng facing Ruth Jebet across the barriers. Quiz: Only Connect, 8.30pm, BBC2

In an exotic-sounding tussle, the Snake Charmers take on the Extras in tonight’s contest. The team names indicate that a team of reptile lovers take on three background actors with host Victoria Coren-Mitchell (above) in charge of matters once more. The players must make connection­s between four things that may at first not appear to be linked, with one set of clues consisting of bubble, indemnity, Dutch and entendre.

Animals: Teach My Pet To Do That, 8pm, ITV

Your dog may be able to offers its paw or roll over at your command but this show with Alexander Armstrong (left) takes things to a different level. A team of specialist­s and trainers teach a range of animals and pets to pull off incredible tricks. Four of the featured pets are Eric, Aslan, River and Moss – a dachshund labrador cross, a miniature horse, a cat and a dog respective­ly. The first two work with trainers Jo-Rosie Haffenden and Nando Brown and it is hoped they can be taught to answer the door at the ring of a doorbell. The latter two steal the show, though, as they hit the road and River the cat is taught to ride on the back of her partner, Moss the dog! NB: NOT IN SCOTLAND OR EIRE

Soap: Coronation Street, 7.30pm and 8.30pm, ITV

Gary Windass (Mikey North, above right) explains to Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien, above left) that it wouldn’t be a good idea for her to join him in Hamburg as he needs to give the job 100 per cent. It remains to be seen, though, whether she will accept his reasons. Chesney starts back at work only to suffer a panic attack while Aidan confronts Eva, wanting to know why she failed to mention her first scan.

Film: Strictly Ballroom, 11.05pm, BBC1

A dancer who is cut from different cloth to his contempora­ries earns the disapprova­l of the ballroom establishm­ent with his unconventi­onal style and it causes his partner to walk out on him. Needing a substitute before a massive championsh­ip, he turns to an awkward beginner whose footwork blossoms under his influence as romance develops between them.
