Drunk bikini-clad spa boss groped me during massage, man tells jury

- By John Twomey

A BUSTY spa owner sexually assaulted a keen runner as she massaged him while drunk and wearing a bikini, a court heard.

Kerry Brocklebank allegedly rubbed oil into the man’s calves and lower back after flirting and behaving “provocatively”.

She had twice spilt champagne over herself and got so close that her breasts were just inches from his face, the jury heard.

The alleged victim, who cannot be named for legal reasons, said: “I could smell drink.” He added: “I felt violated, angry and just not at all happy about the situation.”

Witnesses heard shouts of “Get off me!” as she ignored his repeated pleas to stop, the jury was told.

He had booked a massage session with sports therapist Henry Godfree at the Huntingdon Spa in Cambridgeshire, the court heard.

The man arrived last October at the spa to find Brocklebank in a waiting room which had been decorated for Halloween. “She sat opposite me and just started chatting and playing with a witch’s hat, bizarrely,” he told the jury.

Shortly afterwards, the man had stripped to his underpants and was lying face down on a massage table.

He was stunned when 43-year-old Brocklebank stepped into the room and allegedly said: “I’m going to start.”

The man told her: “Don’t touch me. I’m here to see Henry.”

She poured oil on his right leg and began rubbing, he told the jury.

The man said he pleaded with her to stop up to three times but Brocklebank assured him she was “qualified”.

Sports therapist Mr Godfree said he went into the massage room after hearing The spa in Huntingdon, Cambs, and, right, spa boss Brocklebank seen in a Facebook picture who was said to be drunk and was wearing a bikini the man raise his voice. “At first, he sounded sort of calm and then he sounded particularly panicked, a sort of sense of fear,” Mr Godfree said.

“She was leaned over so her breasts would have been inches from his head. She looked as if I was spoiling her fun.”

He told the jury Brocklebank had behaved in a “quite provocative, quite flirtatious” manner in the waiting room.

“She wasn’t dressed appropriately to be dealing with customers,” he said. “She was wearing a bikini. She was very drunk.”

Mr Godfree resigned from the spa and the runner contacted police, the court heard. Brocklebank, who insists she was wearing a modest one-piece swimsuit, allegedly apologised and offered the man a free massage. She wrote in an email: “Friend’s birthday. I shouldn’t mix business with pleasure,” the jury heard.

She also sent “offensive and threatening” messages to the therapist, the jury heard. They included, “Believe me, if this goes to court I will ruin the pair of you,” the jury was told.

Brocklebank, of Huntingdon, denies sexual assault, perverting the course of justice and an assault charge. The trial at Cambridge Crown Court continues.
