HARRY KANE has spelled out categorica­lly he does not have a release clause in his contract – because he has never bothered to get one put in. While many of those in the England camp may have their preparatio­ns for tomorrow’s game in Malta affected by speculatio­n over their futures, Kane is focused on his internatio­nal career knowing that as far as his club is concerned, he is going nowhere. “I haven’t got a release clause, and I haven’t really thought about it,” he said.

“I’m fully committed to Spurs, so there is no reason to have one to be honest.

“Otherwise the transfer window could be a distractio­n. I’ve not been in that situation but if it was shut off before the start of the season, it’d help.

“It would be better if it stopped then, so everyone could focus on the season without players having to worry about being sold or moving up north or down south.”

An imminent new arrival is Paris Saint-Germain defender Serge Aurier, who was yesterday granted a work permit and is likely to join Spurs today for a fee of £23 million.

Lawyers for the Ivory Coast internatio­nal had to negotiate with the Home Office for the permit after he was given a suspended two-month prison sentence in France last year for assaulting a police officer. The end of the transfer window is significan­t to Kane in one regard, however. It means that September is finally here.
