RATHER than an outright denial Mel B says she’ll rely on the courts to disprove estranged husband Stephen Belafonte’s claims that she’s an unfit mum who abuses alcohol and cocaine.

Speaking out for the first time since their bitter split in March, the former Spice Girl, left, states: “I have remained silent these past six months for the sake of my children. I refuse to be a victim any longer and trust the legal process to show the truth.”

This follows little-known film producer Stephen’s filing of court papers on September 1 in which he claims he has fears for the safety of 42-year-old Mel’s three children. He alleges: “The biggest reason for my concern with respect to the safety of the children was due to Petitioner’s habitual and consistent addiction

to and abuse of cocaine and alcohol. "I did not want Petitioner using drugs and drinking around the children, especially without anyone else present to care for the children." Stephen a lso requests visitation access with his and Mel's daughterMa­dison, six, and with Mel's daughter Angel. 10, whose Wological father is actor Eddie Murphy.

She also has a teenage daughter Phoenix, with dancer ex-husband Jimmy Gulzar. Stephen, 42,insists that he also has proof of text messages exchanged between himself, Mel and their the rapist, which detail an agreement they made with regards to Mel taking medication­s to help with her "su bstance abuse and child safety-.
