Carillion’s shake-up

CARILLION has zapped finance chief Zafar Khan after a profit warning.

The construction and support services firm also said chief operating officer Richard Howson leaves this month while strategy director Shaun Carter will go by 2018.

Emma Mercer is promoted to chief financial officer and Lee Watson has been made chief transformation officer, on secondment from Ernst & Young.

Andy Jones, running the Canada business, will take over as chief operating officer.

The company has a mounting debt and took an £845million hit on problem contracts.
