Shops should postpone all their Christmas stocking

HOW I agree with Robert Readman’s dismay at seeing Christmas goods on the shelves months before the event itself (Letters, September 12).

May I add to that my own question: why does Christmas always have to take place at the time of year when all shops are at their busiest?
