Hogg is homing in on Sarries

-

ALLY HOGG has warned his Newcastle teammates not to forget some home truths against Saracens on Saturday, even though they are playing the game thousands of miles away.

The Falcons tackle the European champions at Talen Energy Stadium, home to Major League Soccer side Philadelphia Union, having won their opening two matches as the Aviva Premiership explores new territories.

But Scotland flanker Hogg claims it will be the same old story from the European champions despite the environment.

“Sarries haven’t changed their style much, and why would you when it has been so successful?” said Hogg.

“They’ll be very setpiece oriented, kicking it, chasing it and trying to apply pressure. It’s about us dealing with that pressure, not getting caught in their trap of playing too much inside our own half and then looking to impose our own pressure back on to them.

“We’re pleased with the way things have gone with beating Worcester and Sale, and it’s great to see the boys’ hard work rewarded, but it’s still very early days.

“Playing the European champions we know will be a step up, and our next two games against Saracens and Bath will be a better barometer of where we really are.”

WORCESTER prop Nick Schonert faces a lengthy lay-off with the ankle injury he suffered against Wasps on Sunday but scans have shown there is no break.

He was carried off after being injured in the first minute of the 24-10 home defeat at Sixways.

But fly-half Tom Heathcote may be fit for Friday’s visit of Exeter despite suffering another concussion injury.
