Tory MP claims teacher told class to shun his teenage son

A TORY MP claimed yesterday that a teacher told other pupils to shun his teenage son because of his politics.

The revelation by Colonel Bob Stewart, the MP for Beckenham, came in a Commons debate.

The House heard a litany of abuse and threats made by members of the hard Left against Conservatives.

Another MP said one of Jeremy Corbyn’s closest allies was behind an abusive campaign of intimidation against a Tory.

And MPs were told a partially sighted female Tory had been threatened with rape by Left-wingers.

Mr Stewart told the Commons: “All my four children have been hassled by other kids in their local schools because of the job of their father.

“There’s little that can be done about that because they’re children, and my kids are robust enough to withstand it.

“But such behaviour is taken to a new level when, during the last general election, a teacher tells the class of my 13-year-old boy that nobody should talk to him because he’s the son of a Conservative MP.” Mid Derbyshire Tory MP Pauline Latham accused an ally of Mr Corbyn of behaviour during the general election that she branded “the worst I have ever seen”.

Ms Latham condemned the campaign run by Chris Williamson, who retook the Derby North seat from Amanda Solloway after he had lost it two years earlier.

Ms Latham told the Commons that Ms Solloway had been subject to false accusations online and “vile abuse” on social media. “I fully expect, after I’ve exposed what has happened to Amanda, to receive threats following this debate for speaking out on these issues,” Ms Latham said.

“But the behaviour of the member for Derby North was the worst I have ever seen.”

Chelmsford MP Vicky Ford told MPs how a partially sighted candidate was threatened with rape.

Calling for particular concern to be expressed for vulnerable candidates, Ms Ford said the fellow Conservative – who stood in the east of England – was subjected to repeated online abuse and threats of rape.

It included a threat to “shoot her then pull the teeth out of her jaw while she fades away”.

Meanwhile, shadow home secretary Diane Abbott quoted offensive language on ITV’s Good Morning Britain while describing the racist and sexist abuse that she receives online.

She said she has also received rape and death threats.

Presenter Susanna Reid criticised her, saying the wording of the abuse was too offensive to be broadcast on the show and should not have been used.

TORY MP Bob Stewart stunned his colleagues yesterday when he told how a teacher ordered pupils not to speak to his son because of his own political position. It is disappointing to see such a childish, divisive and bullying stance taken by a Left-wing teacher.

The truth is we all disagree about politics. Fundamentally though, aside from a tiny minority of genuinely poisonous characters, most people, whatever their beliefs, just want what they think is best for this country.

If more people, particularly those on the Left, chose to remember that our politics would be a bit more civilised.
