Now Rooney party girl says nothing happened

- By Chris Riches

THE party girl at the centre of Wayne Rooney’s marriage crisis yesterday did a U-turn – by claiming nothing had happened between them.

Laura Simpson, 29, had previously said they had “kissed and cuddled” after he offered to drive her home.

But she insisted yesterday: “I’d done nothing wrong.”

Miss Simpson appeared on ITV’s This Morning programme and was grilled by presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield.

Single

The former England captain was arrested and charged with drinkdriving on September 1 while at the wheel of Miss Simpson’s VW Beetle after they had met at a nightclub near his home in Alderley Edge, Cheshire.

Miss Simpson, a single mother of one, told the presenters: “Nothing happened. I did nothing wrong. I feel like I’ve been thrown under the bus.”

But asked if Rooney’s wife Coleen should forgive him, she said: “I don’t think he deserves it. I wouldn’t do that to my partner.”

Holly Willoughby told Miss Simpson: “As a female, I wouldn’t get into a car with a married man.” She replied by telling Phillip Schofield: “I wouldn’t be over the newspapers if I got into a car with you!”

He hit back saying: “You would. My wife would be all over you.” Former estate agent Miss Simpson said of her meeting with Rooney: “I obviously knew who he was. We fell into talking to each other. It was a bit of a whirlwind really. We just ended up in my car.”

She said of a phone call with Coleen: “I told her everything I’ve told you. I told her nothing happened.”

Rooney, 31, was seen yesterday still wearing his wedding ring as he and Rooney yesterday still wearing wedding ring and above, Coleen Everton teammates were jetting out of Liverpool’s John Lennon Airport for a Europa League match in Italy.

Furious pregnant mother-of-three Coleen, also 31, who had been on holiday to Mallorca with the children at the time of the incident, has since been spotted minus her wedding ring as they attempt a reconciliation.

Rooney will appear before Stockport magistrates over the drink driving allegation on Monday.
