Dionne’s Whitney pain

-

Secret...

WHICH famous musician’s wife, who claims to know about every occasion he cheated on her, should add at least a couple of zeros to the figure she keeps quoting?

IT HAS been five years since Whitney Houston died tragically but her cousin Dionne Warwick feels she is still not ready to discuss the incident.

The second only to Aretha Franklin as the most-charted female artist, the 76-year-old appeared on Good Morning Britain yesterday to discuss her charity work with the Dot Com Children’s Foundation, which works to improve the chances of children from disadvantaged backgrounds. But when presenter Susanna Reid attempted to turn the conversation to Whitney, she snapped: “We’re not going to discuss that, OK? That’s a bygone conclusion. We’re here to discuss Dot Com.”

A new documentary about Whitney’s life Can I Be Me aired on BBC Two earlier this month, lifting the lid on her battle with drugs. One of her former bodyguards said he was sacked after raising concerns about her drug use. She died in 2012 after taking a cocktail of drugs in her hotel room.

Yet, despite the fresh revelations in the documentary, Dionne wouldn’t be drawn on the painful topic.

“It’s a very personal thing. Why would you guys even want to continue to hurt me?” she asked Susanna and co-host Ben Shephard. “Because it does hurt.”
