It’s one in the eye for Fuchs
LEICESTER defender Christian Fuchs has been floored by a horror injury in training.
The Austrian, 31, sustained a “nasty” eye injury after a freak accident with a pole. He is booked in to see a specialist and looks certain to miss tomorrow’s trip to Huddersfield.
Leicester manager Craig Shakespeare said: “It was nasty at the time. It closed up straight away. He was literally standing quite close to one of the thin poles you use to run through in training when a ball hit it. Thankfully the pole didn’t come out of the ground. It could have been a lot worse.
“I don’t think anyone realised the seriousness of it at first. He has a small cut but fortunately the medical staff were straight on it.”
Leicester are still formulating their appeal against FIFA’s decision not to sanction Adrien Silva’s £22million deadline-day move from Sporting Lisbon.
Silva is keeping fit at the club but is still unable to train with his new team-mates. MARCO SILVA says Watford will not get ahead of themselves despite moving within one win of the Premier League summit.
If Watford beat Manchester City tomorrow, then Silva’s side will head the top flight for the first time in 35 years.
“It’s important that everyone, starting with myself, keep their feet firmly on the ground,” said Silva, right. ●FORMER Everton and Ipswich striker Marcus Bent has come out of retirement to play for Southern Combination side Wick – nine divisions below the Premier League.
