Suicide anguish of Deal star Noel
ENTERTAINER Noel Edmonds has revealed he recorded farewell messages for his daughters before he tried to end his life.
TV’s Deal Or No Deal star says he was at “the brink of emotional annihilation” 12 years ago after his business empire crumbled because of corrupt bankers.
Noel, 68, admitted he was hellbent on suicide – but not before he had written a letter to his ex-wife, Helen, and made recordings for Charlotte, Lorna, Olivia and Alice.
He told ITV News: “My world imploded and I went to a very dark space.”
After recording his last goodbyes Noel went to woodland near his Devon mansion armed with vodka and prescription pills, beaten by what he describes as the “toxic UK financial system”.
Noel said: “The fact that I did not become another suicide statistic is solely due to the swift response of a Devon ambulance crew and the compassionate support of the Priory in Bristol.”
