Tammy fights for Lions cap
TAMMY ABRAHAM has confirmed his international loyalties remain with England.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) were hopeful of persuading the England Under-21 international, who qualifies for the African nation through his father, to switch countries.
But the striker, on loan at Swansea from Chelsea, said: “I would like to clarify that I have not agreed to switch my national team allegiance.
“I can confirm I met the President of the NFF after our last game against Tottenham at Wembley on Saturday, given he is a friend of my father. However, any suggestion that I have made a decision to change my international representation is incorrect.
“I have informed the FA that I remain available for selection for England.”
Swansea boss Paul Clement had earlier said he hoped the forward would stick with England.
“I’m not sure he’d be better off career-wise,” said Clement.
“I’m English and he’s a good English talent, so you want him involved with your national team.
“Ultimately, it’s the decision of the player – it’s for them to decide.”
