FOR Prince Harry it was a chance to show off his potential parenting skills.

And he demonstrated he has all the makings of a fun-loving father during a playful encounter with his friend’s young daughter at the Invictus Games in Canada.

The 33-year-old Prince melted hearts as he pulled faces at little Emily Henson after she made a play for his tub of popcorn and put her hand into the carton.

He entertained the youngster with a laugh and a joke as they watched the UK take on Denmark in a volleyball match.

Harry was sitting alongside Emily’s mother Hayley Henson in the stands at the Mattamy Athletic Centre in Toronto.

Emily, daughter of former Invictus athlete David Henson, who lost his legs in an explosion in Afghanistan, was clearly enthralled by the Prince’s company.

The heartwarming encounter came just days after Harry and his actress girlfriend Meghan Markle, 36, were pictured walking hand-inhand at the Games in their first official public appearance together.

Harry has previously spoken of his desire to have children.

In an interview with Good Morning America last year he said he hoped he was a “fun uncle” to Prince George and Princess Charlotte and said he “can’t wait for the day” he has children of his own.

He began his visit to the Games, the Paralympics-style event he founded for wounded and injured servicemen and women and veterans, by taking part in a ceremony honouring women athletes who had battled in the recumbent bike time trial event.

He presented the gold medal to Canadian Julie Marcotte.

Earlier this week in London, Harry’s older brother William responded with a diplomatic laugh when the prospect of his brother marrying Meghan was raised as he visited Milton Keynes to celebrate the town’s 50th anniversary. Paul Wright, general manager of William Cowley parchment makers, told him: “If Harry marries Meghan then his certificate will be in our vellum.”

Under the Royal Marriages Act 1772, all descendants of George II must obtain the sovereign’s agreement before they wed – in the form of an elaborate vellum document known as the Instrument of Consent. Otherwise the marriage is invalid.

Mr Wright said of William’s response: “He just laughed – a nice laugh.” On Monday Harry and Meghan joined the crowd watching a wheelchair tennis match.

The couple had kept their distance from each other at the Games’ opening ceremony at the weekend. Meghan was spotted sitting a few rows down and more than a dozen seats away from her partner.

But the following day, Harry and Meghan laughed, smiled and chatted as they shook hands with children also watching the match.
