is too much pressure put on young people?

-

Yes I AGREE with rock star Morrissey about the pressures of being young these days (“Heaven knows it’s miserable for kids”, October 11).

There’s way too much stress put on youngsters to make their mark in the world compared to previous generations. It seems to start pretty much straight away, from getting the best exam results at school to getting into the right university to finding a stellar career that pays for the best holidays, cars, houses and lifestyle.

It’s total overkill. Young people should be allowed to enjoy themselves as well you know. Alan Watson,

Edinburgh No YOUNGSTERS have never had it so easy. With all the latest technology, gadgets, help, career advice and back-up systems in place, what’s not to like about growing up in the 21st century. Talk about cushy. Morrissey questions whether young people can ever be carefree again.

Oh come on! When I was young, I left school and had to go straight into a factory to support my family.

We were on our uppers and there was no time to dwell on future careers, having downtime and enjoying the moment. It was sink or swim. Young people today don’t know how lucky they are.
