Arrogant Clegg’s wrong to side with EU over Brexit

-

I WAS incensed to again hear a prominent remoaner telling us we should rerun the EU referendum vote (“‘You’re attacking Brits!’ Nick Clegg skewered on BBC for siding with EU chiefs on Brexit”, October 11).

This time it was Nick Clegg on The Jeremy Vine Show on Tuesday, telling us that we were all deceived and that Brexit promises have not been carried out.

He was attacked for his viewpoint by Tory activist Tim Montgomerie.

Well I’ll tell Mr Clegg what deception is – it’s the referendum in 1975 to which I and millions of others signed up under the misapprehension we were entering little more than a common market trade agreement, not subjugation to a European political superstate.

Deception is telling people that coming out of the EU means the economy going down the drain.

Remoaners such as Clegg and Tony Blair still don’t get it.

In their supreme arrogance they are convinced those who voted for Brexit did so ignorant of the facts and that had we been as informed and intelligent as they are, we’d all have voted to stay in. Peter Catterall,
