Pregnant Kate gets a twirl from Paddington
THE Duchess of Cambridge is still not fully recovered from the acute morning sickness that has blighted her third pregnancy, but she was well enough to become a Dancing Queen yesterday. Kate, 35, was twirled around by Paddington Bear when the mother-of-two joined the Duke of Cambridge and Prince Harry at a children’s charities event. She made the surprise appearance on Platform 1 of Paddington Station in west London with the cast of new film Paddington 2. The Duchess, wearing a £139 Orla Kiely raised flower dress, took part in the impromptu dance when the famous bear, in duffle coat and red hat, offered his hand. They waltzed to the sound of calypso band D Lime, which performs on the soundtrack for both films.
Sickness
Paddington said: “She’s a right good mover – I think she could win Strictly Come Dancing if she was in it.”
It was Kate’s second public appearance since Kensington Palace announced last month she was pregnant and suffering from the severe morning sickness hyperemesis gravidarum.
“She’s feeling much better,” William said. But an aide added: “She has still not fully recovered.”
Kate chatted to the aptlynamed Esther Windsor and her daughter Lilly, 10.
Esther said: “We really like the train and it’s nice to meet Kate. She seemed very well.”
The three royals joined actor Hugh Bonneville and other cast members at the station, where they took time to meet 130 children from a dozen of the 30 organisations supported by the Royal Charities Forum.
They spent 45 minutes chatting to children on board the Belmond British Pullman steam train, before waving them off on a day trip.
The event was hosted by BAFTA and Studiocanal, the British makers and distributors of the new movie.
There was no mention of disgraced Hollywood film producer Harvey Weinstein, who co-produced the first Paddington film. His name does not appear on credits for the second film although The Weinstein Company is the US distributor.
Paddington 2 is due to be released on November 10.
IT IS good to see the Duchess of Cambridge out and about again and dancing with Paddington Bear. Undoubtedly an occasion for toast and marmalade all round!
