No change at the FA
UNDER FIRE: FA chairman Greg Clarke and now he fears history will repeat itself.
“The lack of fundamental change at the FA just hasn’t happened,” Bernstein said. “The FA continue to be antiquated.
“I have more or less given up on it. The FA need external intervention – somebody sorting out an FA council which has too much self-interest and is not progressive enough.
“The Government really need to take a grip of this situation and insist. There was a real moment when I thought there was a chance of change but I cannot see anything happening now for another 10 or 20 years. “This is an accident that has been waiting to happen. “We’ve missed a major opportunity and I’m not sure how we get it back. The organisation is still institutionally lost in the past.” Shadow sports minister Dr Rosena Allin-Khan has become the latest politician to call for changes in the wake of evidence given by Aluko, left.
Allin-Khan said: “It is clear the leadership of the FA is incapable of dealing with allegations of bullying and racism. I have lost confidence in the FA’s leadership team.
“The board need to act quickly to take the FA in a new direction.”
But last night the FA announced that they are now investigating Aluko’s claim that England women’s goalkeeping coach Lee Kendall repeatedly spoke to her in a Caribbean accent.
