It’s a new dawn for Day’s Bury

- EXCLUSIVE Mikael McKenzie

BURY chairman Stewart Day says he wants to fi nd a replacement for Lee Clark within the next two weeks after axing him last night.

Former Newcastle midfi elder Clark, along with his assistant Alan Thompson, was sacked just eight months after taking the reins at the League One club.

A run of two wins from 15 games led to Day pulling the trigger – and now he wants a replacement before the end of the next international break.

“I will take my time but I won’t take too long,” said Day. “The key will be to get the right person in and we hope to have that done before the Gillingham match in two weeks’ time.

“The Woking game this weekend is key for us. We want to do well in the FA Cup and the fi nancial rewards are substantial for this football club.

“It was not a lengthy decision. Based on recent results, it was not good enough and we had to take action.

“We invested the James Vaughan money [£ 900,000] back into the squad in the summer and we should be doing much better than we currently are. With the players we have, we have to do better.” FORMER Leeds owner Massimo Cellino has been banned for 12 months and fi ned £ 100,000 by the FA for breaking rules on football agents during his time at the club.

Cellino, right, now owner of Serie B side Brescia, twice appealed after being found guilty of breaching regulations over the sale of Ross McCormack to Fulham in 2014, and had the fi ne and length of ban reduced. ROTHERHAM’S New York Stadium will host the fi nal of next year’s European Under- 17 Championship.
