Depp’s murder muddle

-

MURDER On The Orient Express was London’s most star-studded premiere so far this year, and Day & Night was front and centre for all the red-carpet action.

Its stars, including Michelle Pfeiffer, Penelope Cruz,

Johnny Depp and Dame Judi Dench rocked up at The Royal Albert Hall for their thriller’s debut on Thursday evening.

The film has had mixed reviews but this didn’t dampen the cast’s spirits – least of all Sir Kenneth Branagh, 56. The actor, who both directs the film and stars as famed sleuth Hercule Poirot, looked in his element with his wife Lindsay Brunnock. Star Wars actress Daisy Ridley, 25, who plays governess Miss Mary Debenham, wore a show-stopping emerald Vivienne Westwood dress and was all smiles as she thanked a fan who brandished a placard stating: “I’ve waited 48 hours in the cold to meet Daisy.” Meanwhile, Olivia Colman, 43 – who plays the lady’s maid of Princess Dragomiroff – arrived in a stunning black gown and admitted: “I’ve never been a part of something this huge. It’s overwhelming but fantastic.” She was soon followed by Princess Dragomiroff herself – Dame Judi, 82, who humbly said of her younger cast-members: “All this fuss about them being intimidated to work with me isn’t true. Actually, it was very easy working with everyone.”

But it was Depp, 54, who plays menacingly mysterious Samuel Ratchett, who made the most notable entrance. He seemed muddled during an onstage chat with host Lorrain

Kelly, who had to guide him down the stairs afterwards.

No big surprise perhaps, considering that he apparently partied into the small hours the previous night at Soho’s The B nightclub.
