PARTY SUSPENDS PRESCOTT’S SON

- By David Maddox Political Correspondent

JEREMY Corbyn’s judgment has been called into question again after he was forced to suspend John Prescott’s son from his job as one of the party leader’s aides.

David Prescott, a senior figure in Mr Corbyn’s office, has been suspended over alleged misconduct in Westminster.

Declining to elaborate on the reason for the suspension, a Labour spokeswoman said: “We do not comment on staffing matters.”

Later a spokesman said: “The party takes all complaints of sexual harassment, abuse and discrimination extremely seriously. We ask that anyone with a complaint comes forward so that allegations can be properly investigated.

“When evidence of misconduct comes to light, all appropriate disciplinary action is taken in line with the party’s rule book and procedures.”

Contempt

The move came as the Labour leader came under fire for making a Momentum activist with a conviction for electoral fraud one of his campaign chiefs.

Marsha-Jane Thompson was sentenced to 100 hours community service for registering scores of fake voters in 2006.

News of Thompson’s appointment provoked outrage yesterday.

Tory MP Chris Philp said: “Jeremy Corbyn has brought a convicted fraudster into the heart of Westminster. This shows a chilling contempt for the democratic process.”

Fellow Tory MP James Cleverly said: “I find it quite extraordinary at a time when we have a duty to uphold the integrity of, and public opinion of, British politics that Jeremy Corbyn decided to employ someone as a campaign chief who has pleaded guilty to electoral fraud.”
