ASK THE AMPLIFON EXPERT

- Barry Downes, Amplifon Professional Services Manager

Q Can hearing aids really be nearly invisible? A Because they are designed to fit more deeply (but perfectly safely), Amplifon hearing aids can normally only be seen if looking directly into the ear canal. When looking at a person’s face, they won’t be visible.

Q When hearing aids are virtually invisible, are they difficult to use? A Because they are tailored individually to the size and shape of the ear canal, most people find smaller hearing aids easier to insert and remove than larger ones with a more complicated shape to the earfitting. Smaller units adjust automatically or are controlled through a mobile phone app. Those with limited dexterity may be advised by their Amplifon audiologist to try an alternative design.

Q When hearing aids are so small, can they work as well as bigger hearing aids? A Hearing aids small enough to be nearly invisible will be suitable in most cases. However, they may not be right for those with severe hearing loss or very small ear canals. Amplifon audiologists will always ensure that, whatever the style, it will be the right choice for you.
