Maddison is rapped by Ardley
AFC WIMBLEDON PETERBOROUGH UTD
WIMBLEDON boss Neal Ardley slammed Marcus Maddison after the Peterborough star went from playmaker to play-actor.
The 24-year-old made one and scored one for Posh, but then disgracefully hit the deck after going head-to-head with Liam Trotter.
And Ardley said: “I feel he will be embarrassed when he watches it back. I don’t agree with trying to get a fellow player sent off. It’s not what we want in the game.
“There was no way anyone tried to throw a head at each other, they were just head-to-head, giving each other the eyeballs. But he’s a really good player and super talented.”
Maddison and Trotter were both booked after the 85th-minute incident. But it took the gloss off a thriller, with Wimbledon taking a 37-second lead through Lyle Taylor.
A 26th-minute Maddison free-kick was headed in by Danny Lloyd and 12 minutes later Maddison’s penalty made it 2-1. But Cody McDonald levelled in first-half stoppage time.
Posh manager Grant McCann praised ex-Newcastle youngster Maddison, who has attracted interest from top clubs. He said: “To be honest I didn’t see the incident, there were lots of bodies. I’m not taking anything away from Marcus as I thought he was top class today.
“Marcus had an assist and a goal. We’re lucky to have him, he’s a tremendous player and when he is on song he is hard to deal with.”
